Implicature and language structure
The theory of conversational implicature is a theory of language use; nevertheless it can be shown to have considerable implications for the study of language structure. It means to show that there are interesting relation between structure and function of a sort that many current theories of grammar do not envisage, or at least consider beyond the pure view of linguistic theory.
